New research has found that most people believe independent and local businesses offer the best service.
The research carried out by American Express found that 81% of consumers in the UK believe that small independently or locally owned businesses provide the best customer service experience.
As part of their latest Global Customer Service Barometer, they found that consumers are willing to spend as much as 11% extra with a company in return for good customer service.
The report, which compares and contrasts consumer views on customer service across the globe, has found that the majority of the UK public believes that small businesses excel in both their knowledge of the products or services that they provide and in their understanding of the needs of their customers.
